From our President – September 2019

“Membri di Fratellanza”,
August started on the 1st and it was our 1st Birthday dinner of the month. Food was prepared and cooked by Don, Angelo, & Carl, while it was chaired by our 1st Vice President Ron Blair. We had Fratellanza Salad, Pasta with meat sauce, & Chicken Cordon Bleu, with Sherbet for dessert. This was a hit for the many folks that attended.
The 2nd Birthday dinner will be chaired by Pat Geoghegan, with food being prepared by Michelle, Lonnie & Alphonso; We will be having Fratellanza salad, Fettucine w/meat sauce & Beef Scaloppini. This will be another fantastic event and meal for all. Our Friday luncheon will be on the 23rd of August, and we will be having Pesto Tortellini & Chicken Cacciatore. The special event for the month of August at the club will be our Spaghetti & Meat balls with sausage on Sunday the 25th, where we have flown in George Campi to play for us and celebrate his 75th Birthday. This dinner is at a special time, being served at 4:00, knowing that families want to get home early to prepare for school, work, and or both, and I would like to have at least 300 people at this event, so please pass the word and make plans to come.
One last item, regarding Club expenses this year, we got hit hard with the Health Department and Fire Department Inspections, along with our need to put a new roof over the Dining Hall. I have reached out to our Ladies Social Club and the Ligure Club for financial assistance in helping to pay for these necessary expenses. Now I am asking the Members of the Club to come forward with a minimum donation for the Roof Repairs of $50 per person which will help relieve our indebtedness as we move forward. Please see the enclosed letter for more details, thank you!

May you be blessed, and God bless you in your lifetime.

From the Chairman of the Board – September 2019

Cari Fratelli,
School has started and summer is over for the kids. I think that the rest of us can now look forward to a couple of the best months of the year for East Bay weather. I am sitting here with an ice coffee thinking about the Fratellanza Club and it occurs to me that there is a lot of information that the old timers take for granted and the new members don’t have any idea. So for all of the new and young members and their wives, here is some important information. Attending one of the club dinners on a regular basis is critical for the success of the club. In the old days, long before my time, the Fratellanza Club was the center of social life for members. All of the East Bay Italian clubs coordinated their calendars so there would be no conflicts for regular dinners and people could count on a dinner being on a set schedule. We have tried to stick with that but times have changed and sometimes our schedule has changed. Let me tell you how it should be. On the first Thursday of the month there is a members birthday dinner for men and their guests. On the third Thursday of the month there is a members dinner where guests can be men and women. On the second Saturday of the month there is a family dinner where kids are encouraged to come with their parents and often there is dancing after dinner. This month happens to be one of those that does not follow the old calendar. Our family dinner on August 25 will be a Sunday Spaghetti and Meat balls special with a starting dinner time of 4:00. Please give it a try. It was very good when we had the first one a few months ago.
Ciao e voglio verdere tutti voialtri al club

From Our President – October 2019

“Membri di Fratellanza”,
As our 1st Birthday dinner came in September, it was one of our unusual ones where the Dinner Chairmen were our cooks, Angelo & Don. They presented to us Ravioli and Chicken Cacciatore, with such a fantastic sauce people kept asking for more and more! We had nearly 300 people in attendance. Then we had our annual Italian Family night, chaired by our board member Michele Manzone and Ladies President Marilyn Sibitz while we enjoyed Tortellini with Pesto Sauce and Roast Beef for the main course, along with The George Campi Band strumming us thru the night.
The 2nd Birthday dinner will be chaired by Rich Vila & the Lico Family, along with other Calabrese families, where we will be featuring regional Italian food of Homemade Fusilli Pasta (wire macaroni), then hot Calabrese Sausage with Peppers & Fratellana Salad. Our Friday luncheon will be on the 27th of September, and we will be having Pesto Pasta Bolognese, & Beef Scaloppini. This is another month of Fantastic Food and Great Company, you can’t afford to miss all of this, and what we have coming up in October. Please make the effort to attend at least one of our Dinners coming up and get reacquainted to the FRATELLANZA CLUB.
Finally, I would like to thank all of the families, Ladies, & Gentleman that have put money forward for all of the repairs and inspection costs that the club has done and is doing this year. I hope to get letters out to all, but in the meantime, you have my sincere gratitude on this. Donations are still being accepted!
Che tu sia benedetto e Dio vi benedica nella vostra vita.
May you be blessed, and God bless you in your lifetime.

Hello Fratellanza Brothers,
The word is out and I hear people talking about the money we need for our roofing and other improvements. The Health Department work is done and we will be inspected very soon to confirm. The Fire Marshal inspection will have to be pushed to October because we still have a couple of corrections to complete. It is the roofing work that is going to cost a lot of money. Maybe it will use all of the cash we have in our operating accounts. We have a plan to fully pay for it with donations and no interest loans. We will get a new roof over the dining room before the rainy season. I will say that I am very impressed with the cooperative attitude I am seeing from the Ladies Club and the Ligure Club. I think that a lot of them will be donating funds to help us through these tough times. I want all of the Fratellanza Family to remember how well we were treated by the Ladies and our friends at the Ligure Club.
Please keep coming to our great dinners, the Friday Luncheons and other events at the club. The Fall starts a season of special events at the club. See you there.
Ciao,
Roland Lazzarotto
