“Membri della Fratellanza”,
As I conclude my 1st year as President and start my 2nd year, I can tell you that I want to thank all of our members from the Men’s & Ladies Club for all that you do for the Fratellanza. It is never ending and means so much to me and all of the board and officers. For starter’s we had the setup of Christmas decorations along with the trees within the club; Thanks to all the men and women that participated and again when we remove after the 1st of the year. Then the next day we had our annual Christmas Brunch, where we again had over 100 people attend. They were greeted with fresh fruit, eggs, hash browns, potatoes O’brien, sausage, ham, bacon, French toast, pancakes, omelets, toast & croissants, cooked by Carl, Evan, Angelo, & Roland.
Then the next day we had our annual Board/Officers dinner at the club, where Roland & Evan barbecued in the which turned out to be excellent for us all! We were served by the Ladies Club President, Marilyn, and board members Becky and Rose Marie.
Our 1st Birthday dinner for December was another rousing hit with our Dinner chairs being John Barassi & Nick Davis, where we had Tortelloni and Vern’s Roasted chicken, cooked by Don, Carl, & Roland, with over 300 people in attendance.
Our Family dinner will be chaired by Russel Carrel, where we have another tradition of Minestrone soup, & Roast beef prepared by Art, Carl, & Alphonso. Next at our members dinner, we are trying something new for Dinner; a specially cooked Lasagna with Mushroom, Ricotta, sausage, ground beef, spinach and meat sauce, served with a medley of vegetables, Finishing with homemade Cannoli. Also; if you haven’t made plans for New Year’s, the Fratellanza will be having a New Year’s Eve Party; We have flyers already out. We started this up again last year, and it was successful, so we are trying to make this and annual event again. With your help and fun, it will continue to be a success.
Finally on January 25th we will be celebrating our 88th Anniversary, please save this date.
Che voi siete benedetti e Dio vi benedica nella vostra vita.
May you be blessed, and God bless you in your lifetime.
Happy New Year to all Members,
The Fratellanza Club is doing well. We have spent almost all of our financial reserves on major roofing and code required projects in 2019 but we are still going strong. I would like to tell you why we are going strong. It is because of our volunteer members. You may know that our cooks and bartenders get some compensation for their hours of work but it is not much. They are contributing time to the club and everyone else is volunteering all of their time because the only paid staff we have are dishwashers and security guards. We do not have any paid employees.
We have volunteer members managing our website, they put out this monthly newsletter, they monitor the reservations lines and man the ticket window at events. The waiters are all volunteers at every event. They will get a free dinner, drink and dinner certificate but that is a bargain for us. Our members will provide their expertise in taking care of small repairs during the year. They show up for our annual work weekend. Our members will manage professional contractors on big projects at no cost to the club. We have members who are dinner chairmen at every event and will bring friends and family to help as waiters. The Club’s officers manage the schedule, make sure every event is a success and are the purchasing team and financial accounting managers. The officers and Board make sure we have cooks and bartenders for every event. We have one outside accountant who will balance the check book and pay bills monthly and we have another outside accountant who does our taxes so you know that everything is on the up and up. We have a dozen Board members who meet monthly and oversee everything going on at the club.
The Fratellanza Club only works because there are a lot of people pitching in. I encourage all members to think about doing something for the club. If you have some free time you could probably make a difference at the club. If you are recently retired or find yourself with more free time you should think about joining our Board. We add new members every year. Or think about becoming a cook or bartender. Little experience is necessary, we’ll teach you.
I look forward to another good year at the Fratellanza Club. See you soon.
