June 2023 – From the President

Hello members & friends of the Fratellanza Club,

We are racing toward June & between the pleasant weather, the Club repairs that are underway, some well attended dinners & our recent Mothers Day Brunch, I truly believe that we have begun to come together & to re-engage in all the wonderful things that are currently going on in our Club. You will notice very shortly that the back bar will be completely modernized a la Russel, after the roof repairs are completed & we are certified “water tight.”

Next month is our Fathers Day / Scholarships Award Night dinner on June 15 (second birthday dinner, everyone can attend) & we want to fill the dining hall with hungry, energetic dinner guests.

In July we will be holding our Family dinner, Western Night on Saturday, July 8th so break out those cowboy boots, your tight fitting jeans, your cowboy hat & scarf because “its on this year.” No holding back, let us all get involved! There will be a killer band playing. It is time to show off your best line dancing moves & speak with that cowboy drawl during the evening. Plenty of BBQ ribs & Tri-Tip by award winning cooks that will knock your socks off so you will want to attend this event.

Also in July is Italian Heritage Night with the Oakland A’s on Friday, July 21st against the Houston Astros. Please see me for tickets. There are special accommodations for us & a fireworks show that will be very entertaining.

August is really filling up with plenty of exciting opportunities. Here is what we have planned:

On Saturday, August 5th the Fratellanza Club will be hosting the East Bay Bocce Clubs Tournament. Let’s get out there & support your Club, have something to eat, perhaps an adult beverage & watch the competition.

On Sunday, August 6th we have our annual Scholarship Fund Raising Golf Tournament & we are expecting more golfers this year so get your foursomes together early & get your reservation in. As you know our Golf tournament is followed by our dinner (need not play golf to attend the dinner), where prizes & our awards ceremony takes place here at the Club.

On Saturday, August 12th we will be hosting American Graffiti Night Dinner Dance with our Columbus Day Queens father, Gary Mittone & his band performing. Believe me you do not want to miss this one. I’ve been told that our own Kyle Vallone is going to join Gary on a few numbers & “tear it up on his harp.” We want you to dress appropriately for this event, remember the 60’s, white buck shoes, big skirts, penny loafers…….There will be a very special dinner served at this event by Lloyd Pyzer, you do not want to miss this.

Also in August, you don’t want to miss our Blue Dog Poker Tournament on Saturday the 26th. See Dave Ceccanti for details. There are flyers posted with the rules.

We have exciting things planned the entire year so stay current with your newsletter; Better yet, why not attend the next membership meeting & tell us how we’re doing or feel free to criticize us for what we are not doing. It’s your Club; I like the expression “If you never take a step forward, you will always be behind.” So where are you?

In closing, let’s go out there & do the right thing, it’s the right thing to do & it makes you feel real good to do the right thing, try it I promise it will make you feel better.

Ciao Cari Amici,
Ron Blair

June 2023 – From our Chairman

Our President Ron Blair has written extensively about our plans for the next few months. It looks like it will be fun times at the club. Let me just mention two items where we want your help. First is the annual work day. Please come on down on Sunday August 13 for some cleaning, pruning, painting, etc. We’ll get a lot done, have a nice lunch & get to know some members better.

Second is the Italian Festa On September 2nd, Labor day weekend. It will be an indoor/outdoor event like the old Picnics at the club. Let me know if you can help with ideas, with set up or managing a booth for a couple of hours. It should be fun.

See you around the club.
