I was always curious if this was an Italian culture club. I’ve seen the building for years. I’m glad to know that there is a place where Italians can gather and enjoy.

Is there another chapter closer to Napa or Sacramento?

    • Fratellanza Club Admin

      Kathy,

No, The Fratellanza Club does not have “chapters” in other locations. Nor do any other ‘Italian Heritage’ Club I know of.

In Richmond — the Richmond Galileo Club.
In Oakland — The Fratellanza Club, The Ligure Club & The Columbo Club
In San Francisco — San Francisco Italian Athletic Club
In Sacramento — Italian Cultural Society, but this looks like a program of another civic institution. It does not appear to have it’s own club house with a bar, dining hall, ballroom. It appears to have no event like functions or activities.
In Napa — V. Sattui & Inglenook Vineyards appears to have some Italian themed events, but to my eyes, these appear to be marketing events for their wine clubs.

All of the above information, location, events, monthly menus are searchable via the internet.

I wish I had better news for you.

  5. hi roger, saw your note about the Italian Cultural Society of Sacramento. Check out our website at italiancenter.net. The Society is one of the largest regional Italian organizations in Northern California. it operates the Italian Cultural Center and museum of northern California. The Italian Center is a modern multi million dollar center built by the Society in 2007. As a cultural center the programs reflect the cultural traditions of the Italian American heritage. The Center houses a main banquet Event room and multiple classrooms. The Society operates an Italian Language School for the region with hundreds of students attending each year, Weekly activities include a weekly Italian Radio show, weekly films and lectures, food demonstrations, special events and festivals, Columbus Day celebrations and a children’s pre school and elementary classes. The Society also sponsors two performing Italian Folk dance troupes, one for children and one for adults, which perform in costume at Italian festivals in the region including at the San Francisco Giants Italian Night games each year. The society publishes a newsletter (ALTRE VOCI} and you can find recent issues on the website. Recent initiatives by the Society include the construction of two new bocce courts at the Italian Center and promotion of a Little Italy historic district in the city of Sacramento. Other major initiatives include saving the Columbus Day holiday at the State legislature each year for the past few decades. This year the Society even held a protest rally on the steps of the capitol to save the statue of Columbus in the State Capitol Rotunda. Since the lockdowns have affected our operations we are currently offering our winter classes on line. Please pass the word on to other s that there is an active Italian organization in the Sacramento area. Thanks

Bill, I sincerely apologize for not responding earlier. We don’t receive much in this channel & the “message notification” failed to reach my eyes almost 5 months ago. I am going to forward this on to our communications officer for the coming member meeting on June 1. It will be read aloud to all the members present.

However, our member meetings just started in the first week of May because we are waiting for health officials to approve assembly instructions & members to have confidence that they will be safe. Many of our members are advanced in age & fit the “high risk” profile.

I am the treasurer of the Berkeley High School Class of Spring 1957 Reunion committee. In October 2017 we held our 60th reunion at your fine place . We would like to schedule our 65th reunion for the evening of October 8, 2022. We estimate there will be at least 50 people. Please respond at your earliest convenience. Thank you.
